Connect high school students with health mentors

Health Career Collaborative KC is partnering with University of Kansas Medical Center and Wyandotte High School to encourage students to consider careers in health care. Medical students serve as mentors to high school students by showing them some of the employment options available and the next steps to further their education – ACT preparation, college applications, and financial aid. Some of the mentors are first generation students, which gives them a unique perspective when helping others on the same path. Getting high school students to think about a future in healthcare has an even bigger goal in our community. HCC Education Advisor Dr Berry recognizes the disparities in health care in our community and hopes this program will close the gap – more diverse health care teams can help better care for diverse populations. You can help HCC and its mission by making a donation. Funding is required to purchase necessary supplies, medical equipment, ACT examination fees and to expand the program. If you are a healthcare professional and would like to get involved, please send an email to [email protected].
