Connecticut Health System Considering Joining Covenant Health


Day Kimball Healthcare, a healthcare system based in Putnam, Connecticut, has signed an agreement to consider joining Covenant Health, based in Tewksbury, Massachusetts.

Under the agreement, the hospital, medical group, home care, hospice and palliative care of Day Kimball Healthcare, as well as four health centers, would be owned and operated by Covenant Health, a system of health nonprofit that owns and operates 12 trained nurses and senior citizens’ residences. communities and three hospitals across New England and Pennsylvania.

In addition, Day Kimball will continue to have a community-led board of directors who will serve as an advisor to the Covenant Health board of directors.

The organizations said they would now work on a final deal.

The organizations said the deal came to fruition after months of conversations between the organizations.

“We have had many productive and encouraging conversations with management at Day Kimball Healthcare,” said Stephen Grubbs, President and CEO of Covenant Health. “The agreement we signed today allows us to take the next steps in this process, including developing important details and filing applications for approval of the proposed transition with various regulators.”
