Human Resources Director
Richard “Rick” Grooms joined Southeast Georgia Health System as Director of Human Resources in June 2022. His areas of responsibility include human resources, organizational development and education, clinical training and the promotion of health and well-being.
Mr. Grooms has over 30 years of human resources experience within the healthcare industry. Prior to joining the healthcare system, he served as senior vice president and chief human resources officer at Centra Health, a healthcare system comprised of five hospitals and 7,500 employees headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia. Prior to Centra Health, Mr. Grooms was Director of Human Resources at AnMed Health in Anderson, South Carolina.
In addition to extensive executive level experience, Mr. Grooms has achieved many successful accomplishments throughout his career. They range from implementing leadership and organizational development programs, to initiating team-oriented cultural improvement programs, to improving health plan benefit design, to program delivery. recruitment and retention systems and new talent acquisition performance management systems.
Mr. Grooms received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He earned a Master of Arts in Public Administration and Management from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, and he also holds a senior certification from the National Society for Human Resources Professionals (SPHR). Additionally, Mr. Grooms enjoys being heavily involved in the community through volunteering and serving and leading various boards of directors.
