Flint – Genesee Health Plan (GHP) is accepting applications for its fifth Health Career Scholarship Competition sponsored by Sovita Credit Union. The competition is open to high school students in Genesee County who are considering pursuing a career in healthcare or health related sciences. Homeschool or private school students are also eligible.

Students are encouraged to interview one or more family members to thoughtfully explain their family health heritage / history and how their findings influenced their future studies. The trials should also include the chosen health area and why, and how the coronavirus pandemic influenced their decision.

“This year’s competition has a strong focus on students understanding and expressing the impact COVID-19 has had not only on them and their families, but on its impact on their decision to pursue a career in education. health care. With a nationwide shortage of nurses and healthcare professionals, we hope this experience will encourage our young people to step into healthcare and make a positive difference in the healthcare landscape, ”said E. Two scholarships of $ 1,500 will be awarded. They should be typed with 1000 words or more.
